You’ll have:

  • A four year college degree with emphasis in Communications and Journalism preferred.
  • 3 -5 years' experience in a medium to major market.
  • Strong news judgement and a superior knowledge of current events
  • Conversational, pithy writing skills that stand out from “news-speak”.
  • A professional appearance

Responsibilities:

  • Responsible for writing/producing compelling and visually appealing newscasts for TV & digital content for web, applications and OTT platforms.
  • Must be a strong writer with an eye for the people, pictures and pace approach to local newscasts.
  • Must have the ability to craft compelling TV rundowns that emphasize urgency, immediacy, and breaking news.
  • Apply SEO strategies and social engagement tactics.
  • Write stories for broadcast, as well as our various digital and social platforms will also be part of the job.
  • Participate in generating and providing story ideas, researching them as necessary.
  • Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

  •  Strong verbal/written communications skills and knowledge of AP Style required.
  • College degree in Journalism preferred.
  • Ability to work well under pressure and well with a diverse group of people.
  • Must be able to handle a wide variety of variables, including short deadlines, shifting schedules, and shifting from one platform to another.
  • Valid Driver’s License and clean driving record.

Responsibilities:

Our Creative Services Producer will work directly with our sales staff to produce high-quality creative content for clients to drive revenue in key strategic areas as determined by the station, the market, and client needs. The Creative Services Producer produces client creative products including, but not limited to, commercial spots, integrated content for linear television, OTT, and digital ads.

You will also be responsible for the following:

- Develop advertising campaigns for clients.
- Work cooperatively with account executives and clients to ensure all projects are kept on track creatively.
- Maintain knowledge of current video production strategies, techniques, and best practices.
- Perform other reasonable duties as assigned by supervisor.

Qualifications/ Requirements:

The ideal Creative Services Producer will be a skilled writer/producer who is able to create powerful concepts that market a message or tell a story. They will use the power of video to produce memorable and effective commercials while working with clients on a regular basis.
This position favors a relevant communications degree and/or a strong background in Adobe Creative Suite products.

Essential skills are the following; DSLR video photography, creative thinking and writing, and a strong background in lighting and audio. FAA (Federal Aviation Administration) certified drone operator’s license is a plus. An applicant with commercial production and/or advertising experience is preferred.

Responsibilities:

  • Provide leadership and oversight in the execution of an excellent on-air sound and image for the station, with a goal of growing and expanding audience engagement and response.
  • Ensure compliance with FCC rules and regulations and Salem Media Group policies.  
  • Be responsible for the recruitment, training, supervision, and scheduling of programming personnel.
  • Appear at station events/remotes as a friendly “face” of the station as needed or required.
  • Work with station voiceover talent to create and produce station imaging and promos.
  • Manage the daily functioning of automated program delivery resulting in a consistent, “tight,” on-air product. A station sound with minimal if any episodes of “dead air” or “audio collisions.”
  • Be organized and able to create systems to accomplish an excellent on-air sound.
  • Coordinate digital audio streaming processes including web and app-based systems.
  • Work with sales staff for on-air and promotional execution of sales promotions.
  • Work with brokered programming clients on the production of their programs.
  • Work with station promotions director to maximize digital assets including websites; social media presence; and other emerging technologies. 

Skills and Qualifications:

  • Several years of experience in radio programming/production/operations management
  • Ability to understand and program to the conservative and evangelical listening audience.
  • Knowledge of digital automation systems like ENCO and Wide Orbit
  • Proficient in digital audio editing and production using various software packages
  • Excellent communications skills (both written and verbal)
  • Proficient in computer skills (Windows/PC; Microsoft Office; etc.)
  • Ability to solve problems with creativity.
