Experience:

• Conduct remote broadcasts as directed

• Assists in special promotions and programming activities

• May act as Master of Ceremonies for public and/or private events

Requirements:

• Knowledge of all applicable FCC compliance rules and regulations

• Knowledge of EAS system and legal requirements

• Ability to interact with management, staff, clients, and public at all levels

• Ability to multi-task, prioritize and handle strict deadlines

• Ability to troubleshoot unexpected problems and fix them quickly

• Understanding of play-by-play, it’s format structuring, and required equipment

• Must possess strong written and oral communication skills  

• Must possess strong computer skills

• Experience operating automation and production systems

• Dress and conduct yourself in a professional, pleasing manner

• High School diploma or equivalent

• Must hold a valid driver's license and current auto insurance

News Producer (Primary)

KTTC-TV in Rochester, MN is seeking a News Producer. 

Job Summary/Description

A producer’s day at KTTC starts with an editorial meeting where stories are assigned and the staff discusses how to best tell the big stories of the day. After that, producers go to work building their newscasts, making sure to work with their anchors and reporters to bring the best context and information to air. Time management is critical to a successful producer’s day. They must be able to write quickly, edit video, stay in contact with reporters and photographers in the field and keep an eye out for breaking news. A successful producer will use every resource available to tell a story, including pushing for live shots, live video from our network affiliations, creating unique graphics and empowering anchors to use the set as a engaging presentation space.

After the show, producers will work to update our digital and social platforms and clip video from the newscast.

Producers are also part of the content gathering process at KTTC. They participate in the story pitching process and have a beat assignment.

Qualifications/Requirements

This job is perfect for an ambitious, curious and motivated journalist. Experience with video editing is welcome, but not a requirement. A successful candidate will approach this job with an open mind and desire to learn newsroom systems. KTTC works best when we work as a team. Being able to communicate clearly and quickly with colleagues is important. Writing is critical skill for producers, and any previous writing experience is welcome but not a deal breaker. We believe in continuing to learn in our careers and there will be opportunities to learn new skills and grow as a professional.
