Job Overview

Looking for a highly skilled photographer who will elevate sports packages with detailed storytelling and specialized graphics. Must possess the ability to pitch sports stories with the opportunity to produce, shoot, edit, and write. Work independently at a scene for multiple newscasts or work in tandem with a reporter covering daily news.

Job Responsibilities

  • Shoot steady, sequenced video with good, clean audio for news, weather and sports for daily newscasts, specials and station websites as well as social media under tight deadlines. Edit in camera for sequences. Uses movement off the shoulder to show viewers what is seen in the field and a tripod or steady bag for steady shots. Shoots wide, medium and tight shots with a variety of subjects for the purpose of telling the story through pictures.
  • While shooting, get clean audio and sound. Gather great natural sound while in the field. Ensure good lighting, making sure the shot is bright and not dark.
  • Must be proficient in non-linear editing platforms and have knowledge to create high-end, quality news graphics.  
  • Feed video back via live truck, LiveU, or via online portals for multiple newscasts   
  • Work in tandem with a Reporter to "tell" a story.
  • Travel regularly often locally however, may travel nationally and internationally.
  • Work assigned shifts. Shifts may change often. Fill in for absent co-workers if needed. Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules including when called to cover breaking news, as assigned by news management.
  • Drive company vehicle to and from stories under various driving conditions. Obey all traffic laws and safety rules of the road while in a company vehicle. Report any problems or concerns with the vehicle and traffic incidents promptly to appropriate company representative. If assigned to take a news vehicle home, must follow take home car guidelines which included securing equipment and vehicle. Keep car clean and in good condition. Ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Build working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and the general public.
  • Act in a professional, courteous manner when representing the station and the news department. Look presentable and neat on the job.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years experience in TV News photography and top-end editing required. 
  • Must be proficient with current broadcast cameras and edit platforms.
  • Valid Drivers license required and a safe driving history as determined by the company.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English well.
  • Candidate is expected to contribute content daily to comand social platforms
  • NPPA workshop experiences and NATAS participation a plus.

Additional Information

This position is subject to pre-employment driving record background check. A conviction, violation pending adjudication, or adverse driving record more than 3 years old or does not meet the major violation definition per company policy will not, on its own, disqualify an applicant. When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations.

The hourly rate of pay for this position is $24.04 per hour - $28.84 per hour.
