KMSP-TV in Eden Prairie, MN is seeking an Assistant Chief Photojournalist.
You’ll help coach and manage a team of 30-plus talented photojournalists and editors. You’ll be a key player in our positive culture of creativity and accountability. Below are just some of the duties you’ll be a part of:
- Routinely review and coach photojournalists/editors on techniques and style. Hold coaching and “best practices” sessions for both the technical and creative aspects of photojournalism.
- Work with the Chief in establishing and enforcing standards of photojournalism and editing. You’ll also help to improve our systems to measure progress and ensure accountability.
- Work with Manager of Photojournalism, News Operations Manager and Asst. ND for live in-the-field productions. In particular, those include our regular sports show remotes with our broadcast partners.
- When designated by the Chief and duties allow, be at hand during select live newscasts to troubleshoot live tech and other unexpected problems.
- Assist Chief with photographer gear and vehicles
- Be highly skilled with: Edius editing, After Effects, Bit Central, Panasonic P2 cameras.
- Be able to operate Live U packs and maintain Live U servers.
- Shoot, capture and edit visual content for multiple platforms
- Train as a drone operator and visual observer.
- Other duties as assigned by VP/News
Qualifications
- You will have 5 years of experience as a major market news photojournalist.
- You will demonstrate strong communication skills
- Your schedule can include nights, weekends and holidays
- Your skill set must include the ability work under deadline pressure
- You must demonstrate professionalism, positivity and be a good newsroom citizen
- You must have a valid Minnesota driver's license and a clean driving record
- You must be able to lift up to 75 lbs.

MORNING SHOW PRODUCER (Full-time, Regular)
POSITION: Fox 9 News is looking for a FULL-TIME PRODUCER to join its number one rated Morning Show. The Producer prepares newscast rundowns by mining for and writing fresh and engaging VOs, SOTs and teases. He/she would also use the studio to present the content in engaging ways, using multiple monitor locations. The Producer would also help support fellow colleagues in developing and breaking news situations.
REQUIREMENTS:
- Proficient in conversational writing
- Communicates clearly and effectively to directors, anchors and reporters from the control room
- Ability to multi-task and manage deadlines
- Good editorial judgment and strong logistic skills
- Bachelor’s degree or equivalent in communications, journalism, or broadcast preferred
- Minimum of two years’ experience in a medium to large television market preferred

• Creatively write, produce and edit content that will engage WCCO’s audience on all broadcast and digital platforms.
o Work with News, Promotion and Digital departments to coordinate and execute content for television, streaming, social media and YouTube
o Publish approved social media assets (with tags, titles, descriptions, etc.) using best practices for SEO.
o Understand production values and standards used throughout the station and execute them consistently.
o Other station promotional projects as needed.
• Assist in the development and growth of WCCO’s brand across all platforms, including broadcast, mobile web and social platforms.
o Creatively implement the station’s social marketing strategy

REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• 3+ years of experience producing content for social media

PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• BA in Journalism, Communications or Video Production preferred
• Ability to visually tell stories and optimize content for multiplatform publication
• Comfortable with online analytic tools

• Set up mics, operate audio consoles, run robotic cameras, shade studio and remote cameras, floor direct, and manage studio guests when not directing
• Collaborate effectively with show producers and lead technical crew in executing clean shows
REQUIRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Solid knowledge and proven skills within all areas of news and studio production: OverDrive automation, switchers, audio, CG, server ingest and playback, robotic camera operation, and iNews NRCS
• Thorough understanding of standard modern computer systems utilized in broadcast control rooms and studios
• Strong commitment to quality and attention to detail
• Currently working similar positions in a broadcast studio with a minimum of 4 years of news production
PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS:
• Experience with newscast directing utilizing ROSS OverDrive automation
• Strong computer skills and technical trouble-shooting a plus
• Ability to multitask and work proficiently in a deadline driven broadcast environment is essential
ADDITIONAL INFORMATION:
• Must be open to working early mornings, nights, weekends and holidays as broadcast shifts vary
• Candidate is required to join IBEW Union if not currently a member
• Must have a valid driver’s license
