KTTC-TV in Rochester, MN is seeking an Investigative Reporter/Anchor that wants to make an impact on our community, hold the powerful accountable and help those who have traditionally been marginalized.
Job Summary/Description
KTTC is looking for an investigative reporter/anchor that wants to make an impact on our community, hold the powerful accountable and help those who have traditionally been marginalized. We are looking for a person with a strong desire to learn. In this role, you will attend the Investigative Reporters & Editors conference every year to grow from the best and bring practical knowledge back to the newsroom.
Understandably, serious investigations take time. This position is allowed workdays to build out investigative pieces, research, travel, shoot, write and edit. It also requires you work every day to further investigative efforts: by filing FOIA requests, making calls, sending emails, etc. Breaking news sometimes requires an “all hands on deck” mentality. This position will use investigative skills learned from conferences/seminars to bring context to fluid situations and better inform viewers.
You’ll work with the News Director and Digital Content Manager to ensure investigative content is showcased across all platforms and devices, looking for opportunities to expand our reach into new audiences. You will also work with Creative Services to build promotional materials for your investigative stories.
In addition to building investigative stories, this person will also anchor our weekday 9:00 p.m. hour-long newscast.
*** Please note, the primary job duties and responsibilities include, but are not limited to the information listed above ***
Qualifications/Requirements
This role is open to anyone with a desire to dig for the truth. Organizational skills are highly preferred. This person must keep track of stories that may take weeks or months to make air. A candidate may not be a current "TV reporter", but a reporter currently at a newspaper or digital/online outlet who is looking to do more in the way of visual storytelling should also apply.
