SUMMARY

Under general supervision, responsible for pledge drives, solicitation and negotiation of gifts, and grant application assistance; coordinates KBEM listener membership and gifts development programs.

  • Coordinates KBEM listener membership and gifts development programs, including pledge drives, solicitation and negotiation of listener gifts, and premium fulfillment.

  • Maintains accurate records of donations, pledges, and gifts.

  • Coordinates and facilitates correspondence with sponsors, listener members, donors, and potential donors; develops and maintains collaborative partnerships with internal and external stakeholders. Conducts research projects, compiles information and summarizes findings on potential grant funded programs that meet KBEM needs and are consistent with KBEM goals. Coordinates volunteers for fundraising and event tasks.

  • Coordinates the submission of KBEM applications for public and private funds; researches, acquires, and maintains statistics and resource information to support gifts.

  • Assists with the coordination of grant applications and reporting.

  • Manages membership database and tracks listener pledge drive programs.

  • Coordinates special projects and research assignments.

  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment 

  • Enthusiastically promotes the Superintendent’s goals and priorities in compliance with all policies and procedures.

  • Maintains absolute confidentiality of work-related issues, records and MPS information.

    Identify and develop new underwriting business opportunities while maintaining a pipeline of sales prospects in to-be-added sales tracking software.

  • Foster relationships with the existing business client base.

  • Identify new opportunities and develop proposals to meet each business/client/agency's marketing needs.

  • Deliver sales and underwriting presentations with confidence.

  • Maintain steady client communication to ensure customer satisfaction.

  • Monitor competitive media while prospecting for new underwriting opportunities.

  • Negotiate and help set competitively priced rates within the Twin Cities market.

 

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines

Associate’s degree in communications, business administration or related field; AND two (2) years of program support experience; OR an equivalent combination of education, training, and experience as determined by Human Resources.  

Knowledge of:

  • State and Federal laws governing public sector grant funding programs.

  • Correct English grammar, composition, spelling, punctuation and vocabulary.

  • Professional journalistic methods, including research, presentation and publication.

  • Principles of record keeping and records management.

  • FCC regulations pertaining to non-commercial radio stations.

 

Skill in:

  • Maintaining timely and complete record of activities, results, and planned follow up to discussions.

  • Developing social relationships based upon a common purpose.

Radio Broadcast Engineer

 

SUMMARY

Under general supervision, provides senior-level technical support for the operations of the MPS radio station KBEM; acts as primary source of technical information and problem-solving for broadcast engineering and radio operations issues, and assures compliance with FCC regulations.

  • Operates and maintains broadcast engineering and radio operations equipment for the MPS radio station KBEM; monitors operations, and resolves technical engineering issues; KBEM radio station is licensed by the Federal Communications Commission (FCC).
  • Assures that KBEM complies with MPS policies and procedures, state and Federal government rules and regulations for public telecommunications, and FCC regulations in Title 47 - Code of Federal Regulations.
  • Works independently, and makes appropriate decisions based on experience; performs work within scope of authority and training.
  • Maintains broadcast equipment and assures proper function of control rooms, broadcast studios, broadcast classrooms and remote broadcast installations.
  • Maintains and operates radio transmitters, Studio transmitter links, and web streaming infrastructure.
  • Designs and implements studio and transmitter equipment and infrastructure revisions; consults with MPS staff and/or consulting engineers to define needs, technical requirements and cost-effectiveness of revisions.
  • Maintains KBEM operational logs and records of operational parameters; maintains Public Information File required by Code of Federal Regulations (47 C.F.R. §§ 73.3527)
  • Maintains computerized broadcast automation including its links to traffic  and music logs & External program sources from the web & satellite
  • Mixes live sound and edits masters sound recordings
  • Coordinates between MPS and contracted telecommunications services providers.
  • Teaches programming skills and technical and legal operation of the radio station to staff and students.
  • May produce and present on-air programming.
  • Demonstrates courteous and cooperative behavior when interacting with students, clients, visitors, and MPS staff; acts in a manner that promotes a harmonious and effective workplace environment.

MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS

Education, Training and Experience Guidelines Associate’s Degree in Broadcast Technology, Electronics, Computer Science, or a related field; AND four (4) years of experience as a broadcast and sound engineering technician and radio operator; OR an equivalent combination of education, training and experience as determined by Human Resources.

This position is responsible for editing video and running audio for our live and recorded television newscasts and shows.

Job Responsibilities

  • Partner with peers, on-air talent, producers, directors, managers, and members of the public to help ensure a professional TV newscast/show is produced.
  • Accurately switch all elements of the audio under your control. Under the direction of the director, correctly switch all audio going through the audio booth. Work ahead to ensure that all elements that are needed during your shift are ready to go.
  • Control the quality of the audio going through the audio booth. Ensure that all elements of the audio are at the proper level. Ensure that the balance between microphones, music, and video sources are mixed and in a proper relationship with each other.
  • Availability to respond to audio needs. Be available at the audio position during your shift to handle any audio needs, especially during times when we are covering breaking news. Help with coverage of special events.
  • Grow professionally as an audio operator. Seek out ways to become more knowledgeable about new technologies in our business. Bring to the attention of engineering management any ideas that would improve the product we are putting on the air. Seek additional knowledge about the operation of other areas of the department.
  • Video editing that meets a high standard of accuracy, balance, and ethics.
  • Operating digital NLE editing equipment and Windows computer software. Experience using Adobe Premiere preferred.
  • Create station promotions, public service announcements, and event promotions by conceptualizing and writing assigned projects.  Projects include proof of brand and tune-in spots, promotables, station brand, and other strategic promotions.

Job Summary/Description:

MY9 is looking for Production Crew members for the University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldog Hockey.

Production Crew members will be assigned to various roles including Camera Operator, Video Replay Technician, Graphics Operator, Audio Operator, Runner or Back-Up Director.

Please note - the primary job responsibilities include, but are not limited to the duties listed above

Qualifications/Requirements:

  • MY9 produces many Men's & Women's University of Minnesota Duluth Bulldog Hockey games every season.
  • Production Crew members will be working primarily on Friday and Saturday night games from AMSOIL Arena.
  • Production Crew members may be asked to help on selected Bulldog Football and Volleyball games.

Qualifications

  • Previous on air experience preferred. Degree in Communication, Journalism, related field or equivalent experience preferred.

  • Ability to operate all mechanical functions of preparing and delivering an on-air performance, including the recording," editing and playback of listener telephone calls; the preparation of recorded "bits" and other show elements; the operation of the control room console and studio equipment.
  • Ability to write and create commercial production", voiceovers and imaging as needed. 
  • Possess thorough knowledge and understanding of FCC rules and regulations which pertain to announcers, particularly but not limited to Sections 315, 217 and 508.
  • Ability and willingness to be coached and directed by Program Director or Consultant.

Job Overview

This position creates and performs live broadcasts that are entertaining and informative, that project the Company's desired on-air image,and that achieve maximum audience acceptance and ratings. Job Responsibilities

  • Plan, prepare and deliver live and recorded program content for station in an entertaining and professional manner in a style consistent with the appropriate station format.
  • Prepare and create a topical show by gathering information from news flashes, wire copy, periodicals, computer, web and television.
  • Interview guests and other famous or public personalities, as well as moderating panels or discussion shows.
  • Answer phone lines and interview members of listening audience.
  • Write and reads or ad-lib segments to identify station, announce station breaks, commercials, etc.
  • Preparation of online blogs and similar social media activities on behalf of the Stations; the creation of podcasts or videos or both for online distribution, and participation in, and use of, various digital media platforms.
  • Ensure that contests and promotions are conducted in compliance with FCC regulations, as well as federal and state laws.
  • Follow and enforce FCC regulations, station and company polices, including implementing station's/state's EAS procedures.
  • Promote the Company and clients of the Company by planning and attending in-person appearances such as community events, including hosting and assisting at charity functions and remote broadcasts.
  • Maintain positive relationships with national & local community.
  • Perform necessary and required technical functions of assigned air-shift, including the performingand logging of engineering readings.
  • Maintain the program and music logs and ensure that commercials or programs are aired at times logged and the program log is properly signed, initialed and any omissions noted. Report all discrepancies on the Company Discrepancy Report. Record assigned commercial, promotion or public service announcements in a professional manner.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

TECHNICIAN – AUTOMATION DIRECTOR (Full-time, Regular)

 

Fox 9 KMSP/WFTC is looking is seeking an inventive and creative Director to join our production team and help in crafting our award-winning newscasts.

 

Responsibilities:

Direct live and recorded newscasts and programs.

Operate Sony ELC production automation.

Work with Producers to pre-code show rundowns in iNews, camera block, place talent, and make post-show discrepancy reports.

This position will also be cross-trained on other technical responsibilities such as floor directing in studio; relaying cues and other directives from the control room to studio floor, assisting with the set-up and striking of sets which can entail being able to stand for several hours per day and move stage pieces periodically. Position may also require assistance in Master Control & TOC If needed.

 

Qualifications:

A sharp, detail-oriented person who learns quickly and works well with a team.

Work schedule flexibility is required.

Technically savvy and proactive in identifying and appropriately addressing issues that may arise.

Adapts well to the needs of a fast-paced news environment.

Is a positive newsroom citizen.

Knowledge of equipment and operating systems, including Sony ELC automation, MV8000G, video switcher, iNews, ELC playlist viewer, Bitcentral playout, ISQ playout of Chyron Mosaic and Power Clips, Vinten Fusion, and Calrec audio console.

High School diploma (or equivalent), college degree is preferred.

5 or more years of TV studio and control room operations preferred

Requires enrollment in IBEW 292 Union.

JOB DESCRIPTION

 

KMSP TV/WFTC TV  is in need of a Broadcast Maintenance Engineer who will support the technical backbone of our operation. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a foundational understanding of broadcast systems who are looking to broaden their expertise in a hands-on environment. This position serves as a functional supervisor who will provide some oversight as an Engineer-In-Charge but will not have direct reports.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance of broadcast production systems, automation, and control room equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across a broad range of broadcast equipment.
  • Collaborate on installation and basic configuration of new hardware and software systems.
  • Help maintain broadcast IT and bonded cellular systems, servers, and devices essential for broadcast operations.
  • Join project teams to support the rollout and integration of new technologies.
  • Act as a reliable team member, providing input and support to ongoing operational improvements.

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Basic understanding of SDI and IP-based technology and workflows.
  • Familiarity with computer networking principles and broadcast automation systems.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and applying it in a dynamic setting.
  • Some experience with transmitter maintenance a bonus, but not required.
  • Basic to moderate familiarity with IP networking and  Windows, Apple, and Linux server/client environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as necessary.
  • Eagerness to learn and an adaptable "can do" attitude towards work and challenges.
  • Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate with team members and external partners.
