JOB DESCRIPTION

 

KMSP TV/WFTC TV is in need of a Broadcast Maintenance Engineer who will support the technical backbone of our operation. This is an excellent opportunity for candidates with a foundational understanding of broadcast systems who are looking to broaden their expertise in a hands-on environment.

 

Main Responsibilities:

  • Perform routine maintenance of broadcast production systems, automation, and control room equipment.
  • Assist with troubleshooting and resolving technical issues across a broad range of broadcast equipment.
  • Collaborate on installation and basic configuration of new hardware and software systems.
  • Help maintain broadcast IT and bonded cellular systems, servers, and devices essential for broadcast operations.
  • Join project teams to support the rollout and integration of new technologies.
  • Act as a reliable team member, providing input and support to ongoing operational improvements.

 

Preferred Skills and Experience:

  • Basic understanding of SDI and IP-based technology and workflows.
  • Familiarity with computer networking principles and broadcast automation systems.
  • Comfortable learning new technology and applying it in a dynamic setting.
  • Some experience with transmitter maintenance a bonus, but not required.
  • Basic to moderate familiarity with IP networking and  Windows, Apple, and Linux server/client environments.
  • Strong problem-solving skills and ability to work independently as necessary.

  • Effective communication skills and the ability to coordinate with team members and external partners.

Job Overview

Looking for a highly skilled photographer who will elevate sports packages with detailed storytelling and specialized graphics. Must possess the ability to pitch sports stories with the opportunity to produce, shoot, edit, and write. Work independently at a scene for multiple newscasts or work in tandem with a reporter covering daily news.

Job Responsibilities

  • Shoot steady, sequenced video with good, clean audio for news, weather and sports for daily newscasts, specials and station websites as well as social media under tight deadlines. Edit in camera for sequences. Uses movement off the shoulder to show viewers what is seen in the field and a tripod or steady bag for steady shots. Shoots wide, medium and tight shots with a variety of subjects for the purpose of telling the story through pictures.
  • While shooting, get clean audio and sound. Gather great natural sound while in the field. Ensure good lighting, making sure the shot is bright and not dark.
  • Must be proficient in non-linear editing platforms and have knowledge to create high-end, quality news graphics.  
  • Feed video back via live truck, LiveU, or via online portals for multiple newscasts   
  • Work in tandem with a Reporter to "tell" a story.
  • Travel regularly often locally however, may travel nationally and internationally.
  • Work assigned shifts. Shifts may change often. Fill in for absent co-workers if needed. Ability to work other hours or alternate schedules including when called to cover breaking news, as assigned by news management.
  • Drive company vehicle to and from stories under various driving conditions. Obey all traffic laws and safety rules of the road while in a company vehicle. Report any problems or concerns with the vehicle and traffic incidents promptly to appropriate company representative. If assigned to take a news vehicle home, must follow take home car guidelines which included securing equipment and vehicle. Keep car clean and in good condition. Ensure equipment is in good working condition.
  • Build working relationships with co-workers, customers, vendors and the general public.
  • Act in a professional, courteous manner when representing the station and the news department. Look presentable and neat on the job.

Qualifications

  • Minimum of two years experience in TV News photography and top-end editing required. 
  • Must be proficient with current broadcast cameras and edit platforms.
  • Valid Drivers license required and a safe driving history as determined by the company.
  • Ability to read, write and speak English well.
  • Candidate is expected to contribute content daily to social platforms
  • NPPA workshop experiences and NATAS participation a plus.

Job Summary/Description:

KBJR in Duluth, MN, has an exciting opening for a Technical Media Producer. The successful candidate is responsible for several tasks, including but not limited to quality controlling commercials and content, and timing live events. They will also direct live newscasts, edit video, and maintain the studio. The candidate chosen will have strong communication skills, attention to detail, and an operating knowledge of computers. Previous control room experience is preferred but not required.

Duties/Responsibilities include (but are not limited to):

- Operate the Master Control automation
- Monitor multiple program streams to ensure correct programming and commercial run times, record any discrepancies
- Prepare the electronic playlist
- Ingest commercials, programming, and other material into the automation system for broadcast
- Code Scripts for Newscasts and Direct Live Newscasts
- Oversee changing batteries in the wireless mics, IFBs, and setting up anchor/reporter positions
- Edit video for newscasts (Experience with Grass Valley Edius or Adobe Premiere preferred)
- Perform other job-related duties as assigned

Qualifications/Requirements:

- Basic knowledge of TV video production
- Previous experience directing live broadcasts preferred

Job Summary/Description:  

KBJR is looking for a news anchor to lead our weekend evening broadcasts. The successful candidate will anchor weekend evening news on air and across digital and social platforms, will perform general assignment reporter duties during the week, and fill in weekday anchoring as needed.

The other three days of this journalist’s workweek will be spent working with our weekday team as a multimedia journalist. Evenings can bring multiple opportunities to grow as a live reporter. From breaking news to engaging interviews and demonstrations with new businesses, the reporter role is vital to taking our viewers out of the studio.

Some common skills needed for both roles include time management, curiosity, the ability to work on a deadline, strong writing skills, and the ability to adapt. We encourage our staff to get involved in our community through various organizations and volunteer efforts.

Duties/Responsibilities include, but are not limited to: 

- Gathering data and relevant information on local and national newsworthy events

Responsibilities:
•    Work directly with Executive Producer & news leaders to consistently build a high-quality news show
•    Quickly react to breaking news and manage the show's timing
•    Booth continuous coverage on broadcast and live streams for breaking news, weather coverage, and community events
•    Use our extensive toolkit along with your own creative production techniques to enhance stories
•    Write in an exciting, accurate, and urgent way with creative time-stamps
•    Enterprise news stories
•    Research stories to ensure they are factual and ascertain sources’ credibility
•    Use social media and digital tools to research, discover, and produce content
•    Lead and inspire a team to work together for a great newscast
•    Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer

Requirements:
•    College degree in journalism, communications or similar
•    1-3 years full-time newscast producing experience
•    Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
•    Strong social media skills to deliver content and listen for ideas
•    Knowledge of ENPS, Edius, and Axis graphics a plus
•    Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines
•    Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
•    Shifts will include overnight hours, and may include holidays and weekends.

Pay Range

$29.81 - $33.66 USD

Join our innovative and dynamic sales team, where an exciting opportunity awaits an analytical Digital Sales Strategist. You will assist and strategize with key members of the sales staff including Account Executives, Account Managers, and sales leaders, to build digital solutions by leveraging ad-serving interfaces and other operational platforms. As the Digital Sales Strategist, your primary responsibility is campaign success through pre-sales order entry, management, and optimization of Digital Media campaigns to ensure launch and successful delivery. 

Responsibilities: 

  • Work strategically with our sales team to generate marketing solutions that will deliver exceptional client results through our industry-leading digital platforms. 
  • Partner with the Account Executives to generate digital revenue. 
  • Lead in retention, expansion, and development of new digital business 
  • Identify and quantify consumer audiences that would be receptive to client advertising messages. 
  • Identify revenue-generating opportunities by exposing gaps in current digital advertising campaigns, such as impression share deficiencies, missing platforms, etc., that will further promote the client objectives. 
  • Efficiently process digital sales orders by receiving, understanding, and accurately inputting them into multiple systems. 
  • Support campaign execution by trafficking creative, communicating with our internal and external vendors, and monitoring live campaigns. 
  • Prepare quarterly business review and execute strategic key digital accounts reviews. 
  • Oversee the development of digital creative materials. 
  • Proactively monitor and analyze digital campaigns to create solutions to retain and grow our digital revenue. 
  • Create case studies and communicate successful digital campaign results to the sales team. 
  • Monitor competitor websites for potential new revenue opportunities. 
  • Attend client calls, if needed, as the digital expert on our product offerings. 

  

Requirements: 

  • 2 to 3 years of digital marketing sales support, inside or outside sales experience. 
  • Expert knowledge of all facets of digital sales and marketing with good grasp of OTT and targeted display. 
  • Adept at creating new revenue opportunities from synergies between interactive sales and other mediums. 
  • Google AdWords and Interactive Advertising Bureau (IAB) certifications highly desirable. 
  • Proficient in Microsoft Office programs and knowledge of Salesforce or other CRM software. 
  • Strong presenter and communicator with internal and external customers and partners. 
  • Demonstrated organizational skills, and ability to multi-task. 
  • Demonstrate effective problem-solving and decision-making skills.
