
FACILITIES/ENGINEERING MAINTENANCE SUPERVISOR – Full Time
Join an Emmy-winning public broadcasting station and specialize in maintaining all facilities at Pioneer PBS including buildings, properties, HVAC systems, and vehicles owned by Pioneer PBS. Pioneer PBS is seeking a full-time Facilities/Engineering Maintenance Supervisor in their Granite Falls, MN location. The position opens immediately, and business hours are 9 a.m.-4:30 p.m., but the applicant must be able to work varying hours and weekends as projects dictate. This position reports directly to the Chief Technology Officer.
Pioneer PBS is seeking an individual with a high school diploma or technical background who has experience in building and vehicle maintenance. Applicant must maintain a current Minnesota driver’s license and have a license adequate to drive the vehicle that pulls the mobile production truck.
We are seeking an individual who is self-motivated, with the ability to work independently, yet take direction and work successfully in a team environment. All employees must have the ability to remain positive and foster a positive work environment as well as maintain a neat, clean, safe, and organized workplace.
Specific job duties include but are not limited to:
INTERNAL
- Maintain water softener system by adding pellet salt to the tank
- Check on the sewer system, pump it out every two years and coordinate with CTO on call for service when needed.
- Empty trash in the bathrooms and make sure at least one extra roll of toilet paper is available each day.
- Empty trash and recycling in the kitchen and place new bags in each receptacle.
- Supervise the weekly part time janitorial services.
EXTERNAL
- Maintain all walkways to keep them clear for foot traffic. This would include any debris, and more specifically snow and ice during the winter season. This should be done prior to any other employees or visitors start arriving.
- Maintain walkways during the weather event throughout the day including pathway to the LP tanks.
- Coordinate with our snow removal vendor for the parking lots.
- Mowing of all areas on the property and weed whip around areas that can’t be mowed.
- Seasonal grounds maintenance, mulching, clear and removal of dead plants etc. around the building in the spring/late fall to allow for new to start growing and haul all dead foliage to the compost site.
- Maintain all equipment powered and non-powered so they are in good working condition and all service intervals are tended to.
- Check building entrance door(s) operations frequently to assure they are in good working order.
- Track any holiday or community room hours needed for doors to be open or closed outside of the normal schedule (9am-4pm) and update computer accordingly
- Monitor security camera footage for any activities needing to be reported or archived.
VEHICLES
- Perform or coordinate service/maintenance, both on a preventive and an emergency basis, on all
vehicles, and small engine equipment, tools and machinery. This includes all site standby generators.
- Perform light service on all company vehicles.
- Clean station cars of snow and ice on a regular basis.
- Clean the interior of each vehicle. Dust the dash and instrument clusters as needed. Wipe the steering wheel and all controls as well a=with anti-bacterial wipes or a damp cloth as needed. Vacuum vehicle throughout.
- Check air pressure of the tires and visually inspect the tread and tire condition on a regular basis.
- Rotate tires as recommended by manufacturer.
- Get estimate for work on vehicles needing work outside of our capabilities. i.e. new tires, major repairs such as exhaust, engine work and the like.
- Submit estimates to management for prior authorization of work.
- Communicate with staff about any vehicle being taken out of service so vehicle is not used.
- Maintain documentation into the service log.
OFFSITE WORK (Tower locations Appleton, Chandler, Ivanhoe, Elbow Lake and Erhard)
- Responsible for maintenance and repair at tower’s and sites including landscape, buildings,
HVAC and electrical work.
- Maintain cleanliness of the inside of each building by sweeping and emptying trash.
- Outside of the buildings, maintain any HVAC units by cleaning debris and dirt from the cooling fins via high pressure air and blow gun. Occasionally cleaning may be needed by water and a soft brush to remove stubborn dirt. Fins are delicate and care must be used when cleaning.
- Coordinate service, both on a preventative and an emergency basis, on all HVAC, electrical, and plumbing equipment or systems at all facilities and sites.
- Check pressure lines to assure we have adequate pressure in the transmission lines. Maintain 2-3 PSI. Change nitrogen tanks as needed. If the site has a dryer, check pressures on the dryer unit itself.
- Clear all anchors for our towers utilizing weed whip and tree shears when needed. Use of chemicals is also ok when clearing anchors.
- Mow areas where it is easy to get in and out with the mower. Weed whip around inaccessible areas such as fences and tight areas around equipment.
- Assist engineering as needed to install new equipment etc.
- At the Appleton facility, perform light maintenance as needed by tenants. Mow around the buildings and coordinate snow removal.
- Responsible for the physical buildings located on all Pioneer PBS properties, such as roofs, exteriors, wells, interiors, etc.
