Job Responsibilities
- Work closely with the News Director, Executive Producer, and other news team members to build and develop a consistent advance planning system for news coverage and special events.
- Constantly generate daily story ideas and plan for the future.
- Lead daily meetings with producers and reporters.
- Maintain strong local contacts.
- Assist producers and reporters with story calls, setups, and follow-through.
- Coordinate breaking news coverage, crews, and LiveU units.
- Ability to oversee schedules/gear/vehicles.
- Work on special projects as assigned.
- Provide newsroom leadership.
- Complete other duties as assigned.
Qualifications
- Excellent interpersonal skills with the ability to communicate clearly, calmly, and respectfully with teammates of various personalities and others during high-pressure, high-stress situations.
- College Degree in Communications with an emphasis in Journalism preferred.
- Two years of TV/digital newsroom experience a plus.
- Must be extremely well organized and detail-oriented.
- Advanced ability in critical thinking and judgment.
- Must be able to make good decisions quickly; able to articulate and communicate information and direction to news staff and other station employees.
- Computer and Social Media skills a must.
- Solid exposure to and understanding of ethics of Journalism.
- Producer experience a plus.
- Commitment, determination, and a strong sense of teamwork.
- Must have a valid driver's license & safe driving history as determined by the Company. Driving record will be checked.
