What is the Disaster Information Reporting System (DIRS)?

One of the best kept secrets at the FCC is DIRS (Disaster Information Reporting System). DIRS is a voluntary, efficient, web-based system that communications companies, including broadcasters can use to report communications infrastructure status and situational awareness information during times of crisis. DIRS streamlines the reporting process and enables communications providers to share network status information with the Commission quickly and efficiently.  Detailed information can be found here.

A DIRS exercise for participating broadcasters will be held September 13, 2018 (postponed from August 23 - 24, 2018).
