Responsibilities

  • Prospect for qualified local and regional churches, ministries and small to medium sized businesses; present and close appropriate marketing solution programs.
  • Deliver compelling advertising presentations and strategic plans that address client objectives
  • Responsible to accurately project revenues, meet and exceed monthly budgets for all product lines and overachieve annual budgets
  • Follow accountabilities set forth by your sales manager to help guide you to success achieving monthly sales quotas consistently
  • Develop promotional campaigns for churches for greater community impact
  • Serve as our liaison to the Twin Cities Area community of pastors and leaders
  • Working with National Ministry Partners for donor acquisition and other local events

 

Qualifications

  • The successful candidate will be smart, curious, tenacious, entrepreneurial, independent, passionate and enthusiastic, enjoy the thrill of the hunt by bringing in new business

  • Track record of exceeding sales goals
  • Proficiency in prospecting and effective listening skills 
  • A College degree is a plus; with 1-2 years of ministry sales experience, preferred

The successful candidate will be able to multitask and produce content on deadline – from pitching investigative angles on daily news coverage to long-term and follow-up reports.

This is not an entry-level position. You will be an investigative journalist working closely with a team of other experienced reporters, producers and photographers who value a storytelling approach and consistently turn out some of the highest-level in-depth journalism in the country. Only applicants with a minimum of three years of experience will be considered. A portfolio that includes investigative work will be required.

Broadcast Director

KARE-11, the TEGNA affiliate in Minneapolis seeks a Broadcast Director. The primary responsibility of this position is directing daily newscasts and other local programs, utilizing both production automation and manual switching operations. The Broadcast Director will work closely with our news, production, and technical teams to produce fast-paced, compelling and comprehensive newscasts and programs.

We are looking for someone to bring forward-thinking production ideas, strong technical knowledge, and the ability to manage quality control at a high level. In addition, the candidate must also be familiar with all studio operations, including floor directing, camera operation, teleprompter, graphics creation, audio, lighting, non-linear editing, content management systems and master control systems.

Responsibilities: 

  • Direct daily live newscasts and recorded shows using both automation and manual switching.
  • Oversee the overall look of newscasts and on-air programming.
  • Identify and correct potential problems before they hit air.
  • Troubleshooting technical systems when required.
  • Use non-linear editing and content management systems for programming, commercial and digital content creation.
  • Other production department duties as assigned.

Candidates must be strong journalists, capable of producing memorable enterprise content and able to land market exclusive interviews and stories for various content platforms. You will also serve as a mentor and coach to other newsroom employees.

Responsibilities: 

  • Anchor multiple evening newscasts.
  • Creatively build and leverage external partnerships to forge new relationships and increase community impact.
  • Generate unique and compelling stories and show ideas around topics impacting our community.
  • Take a leadership role in newscast content and production.
  • Represent KARE and its community-focused brand at station events, civic engagements, and other public appearances.
  • Work cross-departmentally to achieve station goals.
  • Collaborate with producers, reporters, photojournalists, managers, and other team members.
  • Requirements: 

  • At least 10 years of journalism experience, including regular opportunities to anchor newscasts
  • Strong on-camera delivery with the ability to ad-lib.
  • Excellent, creative presentation and writing skills.
  • Strong social media presence.
  • Strong leadership qualities with prior experience in motivating, engaging, and recognizing team members on multiple projects.
  • Passion for being involved in the community and the ability to build meaningful relationships.
  • Innovative mindset that can challenge the status quo and bring forward new ideas to evolve both linear and digital content.
  • The ability to coach and collaborate with teammates on content projects.
  • Sound news judgment and a proven track record of producing enterprise content.
  • Work environment: Set, office, normally performed in a typical interior/office environment. Field anchoring from the scene of major news events, breaking news and/or special station events can be required, as necessary.
