Job Description:

  • Dynamic producer to passionately lead a team of anchors, reporters, photographers, editors and other journalists.
  • Appreciates the power of pictures, people and pacing.
  • Creates phenomenal TV and helps to collaborate on content for digital platforms every day.
  • Understands the importance of carrying out strong breaking news and weather coverage.

Anchor/Reporter

Job Description:

  • Anchor newscasts and report for TV and our digital platforms.
  • Originate, research, investigate, write, narrate, produce and present high-energy, engaging live shots or recorded stories as assigned.
  • Leader in social media and other new technologies to engage with the audience and innovate new ways of storytelling.
  • Coach reporters, producers and other contributors.
  • Collaborate optimally with colleagues in News, Digital, Promotion, Production and Engineering on daily assignments, sweeps stories and special projects
  • Ensure an accurate and ethical presentation of the news
  • Research and conduct necessary interviews
  • Manage all news production deadlines
  • Participate in various Community Relations/Public Relations appearances (parades, organization dinners, fundraisers, meetings, etc.)
  • Ensure that the daily broadcast is consistent with station strategic goals, values and brand.
  • Other duties as assigned.

Required Qualifications:

  • Must have exceptional communication and active listening skills
  • Must have ability to ad lib clearly and accurately during times of breaking news
  • Must be a strong emotional storyteller
  • Must be results oriented, curious, creative and committed to collaboration

Broadcast System Engineer

KSTP-TV in Minneapolis/St. Paul is seeking a Broadcast Systems Engineer. The Broadcast Systems Engineer's primary responsibility shall be to install, test, configure and commission Broadcast & Broadcast related IT systems, bringing projects to completion and ensuring quality in both, a studio setting and in remote locations. They must also understand Broadcast system designs and demonstrate installation techniques. He or she must be able to understand complex systems and have a solid technical background with an understanding of current video, audio, control and data networking technology.   • Set up lighting and audio as situation dictates
  • Edit daily stories under deadline pressure using non-linear editing systems
  • Work with reporters and producers as well as on your own to create stories that are visually appealing and meaningful
  • Operate ENG news vans, drive station vehicle to assignments and report all maintenance problems to supervisor
  • Maintain assigned equipment in good working order and report equipment problems to supervisor
  • Complete work within newscast deadlines
  • Uphold journalistic, ethical and professional standards consistent with company policies and values
  • Perform other duties, which may be assigned by a newsroom manager.

Required Qualifications

  • Operating proficiency of Sony XDCAM, Panasonic P-2 or similar ENG Systems as well as non-linear editing on Edius, FCP X, Avid or a similar nonlinear editing system
  • Must be able to obtain a valid MN driver’s license
  • Must be physically able to carry, shoulder and shoot with a broadcast ENG camera (25 lbs. or more), as well as carry support equipment (i.e., tripod, lights, etc.)

Preferred Qualifications

  • Two to five years of experience as a photojournalist in a medium to major market
  • Two to four year degree
  • NPPA style shooting experience a plus
  • FAA Part 107 license and flight experience a plus.
