KARE 11 is a news leader looking for an experienced, engaging and enterprising Producer to join our team. We’re looking for a content leader, strong enterpriser and good newsroom citizen that will work collaboratively with the Assistant News Director, Senior Executive Producer, and Executive Producer to execute the editorial vision of the day.
The ideal candidate for this position is curious, creative, has a strong editorial voice and is collaborative in a newsroom setting who will share innovative ideas for daily content, while maintaining close attention to detail. This producer must be able to write concisely and execute the goals of the newscast with near perfection.
Responsibilities:
- Write in an exciting, accurate and creative way
- Use the latest editing and photography tools to tell great stories
- Research facts and credibility
- Enterprise news stories
- Lead and inspire a team to work together for a great newscast
- Coach on-air talent to be exciting and engaging
- Perform other tasks as required by supervisor or executive producer
- Preview accuracy of upcoming video & graphics
- Preview upcoming stories, packages and segments
- Time show effectively and communicate with anchors, reporters and other talent on time cues/roll cues
- Oversee all in-show graphics and show titles
- Adept using social media and digital tools to discover & research stories, using reliable sources
Requirements:
- Degree in journalism, communications or related field
- Skills in producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
- Strong social media skills to deliver content and listen for ideas
- Knowledge of ENPS and Edius a plus
- Organizational skills and the ability to work under time pressure deadlines
- Ability to calmly handle live, breaking news situations and changing events
- Exceptional news judgement and ability to visually tell stories
- Editorial experience in fast-paced newsroom environment
- Ability to anticipate and respond quickly to change
- Experience calmly handling live, breaking news situations, and changing events
- Proven experience producing engaging, content-driven newscasts and digital content
- Required on-site. Must be willing to work in Minneapolis/St. Paul metro.
