News Director

KDOM Radio in Windom, MN is looking to fill the position of News Director.

Primary job is for a full-time, multi-media news broadcaster who can deliver compelling “local” newscasts and gather news in the field as well as from in the studio.  The ability to add actualities, photos and video to stories is part of what would make you a great candidate for the job.  Managing the news section on our website gives you bonus points!  We will consider recent college grads with a strong desire to expand their reporting skills.  Other duties may be assigned based on ability and desire of the applicant.

EDUCATION and/or EXPERIENCE - Bachelor's Degree (BA) from four-year college or university; two years related experience and/or training; or equivalent combination of education and experience.  Must be knowledgeable in local community and national events.

LANGUAGE SKILLS - Ability to read, analyze, and interpret general business periodicals, professional journals, technical procedures, and governmental regulations.  Ability to write news reports and business correspondence.  Ability to effectively present information.

REASONING ABILITY - Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions. Ability to interpret a variety of instructions furnished in written or oral form.

OTHER SKILLS AND ABILITIES - Possess good telephone and communication skills, and operate a digital editor and other broadcast audio equipment.  Must have the ability to operate a computer for general office functionality and have frequent interaction with the local community and employees.  Must exhibit the ability to think and process information on the spot during live broadcasts.  Must have the ability to deal with a high level stress because of the deadlines and live in-field reporting.  The employee must occasionally work long hours during breaking news events.

 Requirements: CERTIFICATES, LICENSES, REGISTRATIONS.  Valid driver's license and state mandated auto insurance.
