JOB DESCRIPTION
Now this is a fun opportunity!
A lot of stations say they are “all about weather”. But few places on Earth have the variety of seasons that we do in Minnesota. So when we say WE are “all about weather” at FOX 9/Minneapolis-St. Paul…we mean it.
And we are putting our money where our mouths are. We are searching for a dynamic live news reporter but one that knows how to present weather, to join our team in this unique hybrid role.
This isn’t just a standard reporting job. You’ll have the background and/or the desire to present the weather IN STUDIO at the weather wall on a routine basis. You’ll do a lot of storm chasing too!
Our reporters AND our weather people have:
Raging curiosity.
Edgy storytelling.
Dynamic on-camera presence.
Teamwork and hard work.
In addition, you’ll be fluid at using the latest technology to gather and distribute WEATHER content in real time across multiple platforms. Even if you just have the base knowledge of how to deliver weather segments at the wall and in the field…we’ll work with you to expand the base.
You’ll know current events inside and out; and have a desire to mine for and share information in a compelling manner.
Be a multi-faceted journalist who can write, present, produce, and share information on–air, online and through social media
Embrace the evolution and vision of the newsroom and be a good newsroom citizen.
