IT Security Operations Analyst

Hubbard Broadcasting is seeking an IT Security Operations Analyst.

Hubbard Broadcasting Inc., is the parent company of several media companies including Hubbard Television, Hubbard Radio, REELZ, F&F Productions and 2060 Digital. Based in St. Paul, MN, this family-run business has been in operations for nearly 100 years.

Job Responsibilities

Security Monitoring and Incident Response:

  • Collaborate with the company's MDR partner to ensure visibility and monitoring efficiency of company's devices, networks, and cloud-based systems.
  • Actively monitor and investigate security issues and drive effective escalation and mitigation with appropriate management and engineering teams.
  • Create and maintain effective documentation covering security infrastructure, processes, and procedures.
  • Assist in the maintenance of the organization's incident management plans including updating, implementing, and testing.
  • Plan and conduct vulnerability assessments and penetration testing to identify and address security weaknesses.

Security Policy and Compliance:

  • Contribute to the development, implementation, and enforcement of organizational security policies and procedures.
  • Conduct regular audits to ensure adherence to security policies and practices.

Risk Management:

  • Identify and assess security risks to the organization's IT infrastructure and data.
  • Develop and implement risk mitigation strategies to protect against potential threats.
  • Maintain an up-to-date understanding of emerging security threats and recommend appropriate measures to address them.

Collaboration and Training: 

  • Collaborate with cross-functional teams to:
    • Maintain the security integrity of systems and networks.
    • Ensure security policies and practices are integrated into all aspects of IT operations.
    • Test monitoring and escalation processes.
    • Participate in team meetings and project planning activities.
  • Act as a subject matter expert, to assist in developing and delivering security awareness training programs to educate employees on security best practices.
  • Promote a culture of security awareness and vigilance across the organization.
  • Complete other duties as assigned.

Compensation and Benefits

When extending an offer, the company considers a variety of factors such as (but not limited to) the candidate's work experience, education/training & key skills as well as internal peer equity and other market and business considerations.

 

The annual base salary for this position is $72,000 to $90,00. The pay range represents the company’s good faith and reasonable estimate of the range of possible compensation at the time of posting.

Job Overview

This position is a key member of the IT Infrastructure team and is focused on maintaining the efficacy of the organization's cybersecurity infrastructure. The role will work closely with the Director of Infrastructure/Security to align security practices with organization needs and best practices. The role will be instrumental in the selection and implementation of security measures, and using them to detect, evaluate, and respond to IT security concerns that arise in daily operations throughout the organization. This is a full time in office position.

Qualifications

Qualifications and Preferred Skills:

  • Education: A bachelor's degree in computer science, cybersecurity, or a related field is required. Relevant professional experience may also be considered in lieu of a formal degree.
  • Experience: 2+ years of experience in IT security, including experience with security monitoring, incident response, and risk management.
  • Strong knowledge of networks, firewalls, endpoint management, security frameworks and standards (e.g., NIST, CIS, Cobit).
  • Experience with security tools and technologies (e.g., SIEM, IDS/IPS, firewalls).  
  • Certifications such as CISSP, CISM, or CEH.
  • Familiarity with cloud security best practices.
  • Excellent analytical and problem-solving skills.
  • Effective communication and interpersonal skills.
  • Proficiency in scripting such as Python, PowerShell, etc. 
  • Motivated with the ability to work independently.
  • Ability to work an on-call rotation and may be required to provide support after regular business hours.

Physical requirements

  • Read, hear, and speak English clearly.
  • Prepare and generate reports, proposals, and other business correspondence.
  • Manipulate computer keys and general office equipment for extended periods of time.
  • Think logically and analytically and articulate information that may be complex in clear, concise manner to others.
  • The ability to think quickly and clearly is necessary.
  • Ability to gather and organize large amounts of data and search for patterns and connections.
  • Average sitting and standing.
  • Some bending, pushing, and pulling.
  • May travel via airplanes and cars for overnight business trips.
  • Lift up to 25 lbs.
