Business Development Representative

PBS North in Duluth is seeking a Business Development Representative.

Duluth- Superior Area Educational Television Corporation (DSAETC), serving Northeastern Minnesota and Northwestern Wisconsin through PBS North and The North 103.3FM, is looking for an experienced, motivated, and community-minded Business Development Representative to join our team.

The ideal candidate must possess the ability to grow outstanding relationships, and have a proven track record of sales, customer service, and organizational skills. This position requires a self-motivated professional who enjoys developing new business, building lasting partnerships, and creating innovative sponsorship and funding opportunities.

Successful candidates will have a demonstrated ability to achieve revenue goals by developing new business, growing relationships with existing clients, and identifying unique sponsorship and alternative funding opportunities. Enthusiasm for public broadcasting and an understanding of the value of non-commercial media are important to the success of this position.

Essential Responsibilities:

· Identify, prospect, and develop relationships with prospective clients, sponsors, community partners, and key decision makers.

· Schedule and conduct meetings and presentations to develop revenue-generating opportunities.

· Expand the organization’s sales and funding footprint by introducing existing and prospective clients to sponsorship opportunities and other business solutions across PBS North and The North 103.3 FM platforms.

· Meet or exceed established weekly, monthly, and quarterly sales, revenue, prospecting, and lead-generating goals.

· Maintain a thorough understanding of DSAETC’s programming, services, sponsorship opportunities, and industry trends.

· Build and maintain strong client relationships through professional, consultative communication, exceptional customer service, and consistent follow-up.

· Maintain superb organization and accurate records of prospecting activities, client interactions, sales opportunities, contracts, and follow-up responsibilities.

· Prepare sales and funding activity reports, pipeline updates, revenue projections, and other information as required.

· Collaborate with colleagues throughout the organization to identify and pursue potential opportunities involving businesses, non-profits, community organizations, and other partners.

· Participate in planning, and implementation of special events, fundraising initiatives, and other activities involving clients and community partners.

· Represent PBS North and The North 103.3 FM at community events, networking opportunities, and other outreach activities that enhance organizational visibility and support business development efforts.

Skills and Qualifications:

· Excellent verbal and written communication skills.

· Demonstrated sales, customer service, relationship-building, and presentation skills.

· Superb organizational and time-management skills

· Proficiency with Microsoft Office and Excel applications and other business development and organizational tools.

· Experience with public broadcasting, underwriting, or production funding is preferred.

· Experience with television, radio, digital media, advertising, sponsorship, fundraising, or business development is preferred.

Knowledge and Abilities:

· Knowledge of the regional business community.

· Ability to generate and qualify leads through research, networking, prospecting, and community outreach.

· Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with clients, community organizations, and colleagues.

· Self-motivated and able to work independently while contributing to organizational and team goals.

· Ability to effectively manage multiple clients, prospects, projects, deadlines, follow-up responsibilities, and successfully close business opportunities.

· Familiarity with Canva, Microsoft PowerPoint, or similar presentation software, with the ability to create professional sales presentations, proposals, and client-facing materials.

· Basic understanding of how television, radio, digital and other media platforms can be used to help organizations achieve their marketing and communication goals.

Education and Experience

Qualified applicants must possess one of the following:

· An associate degree in Marketing, Business, Communications, or a related field AND two (2) years of experience in marketing, media sales, business development, fundraising, or related activities; OR

· Four (4) years of experience in marketing, media sales, business development, fundraising, sponsorship, or related activities; OR

· Any equivalent combination of education and experience through which comparable knowledge, skills and abilities have been achieved.
