Northern Commuity Radio in Grand Rapids and Brainerd, MN is seeking a Development Director. ESSENTIAL DUTIES Responsibilities will include securing advertising and underwriting of proprietary and subscribed radio programming, as well as NCR events, initiatives and digital products across multimedia platforms. Responsible for meeting underwriting revenue budgets. Loves selling and closing! Works with Operations Director to streamline and create digital products for revenue generation (PreRolls on audio and video ect) Comfortable and experienced with a focused Sales role that includes prospecting, cold calls, needs assessments, proposal creation and presentation to secure the sale, servicing the account and forecasting and reporting results to NCR management. Business development utilizing the NCR Strategic Plan and priorities to build productive client relationships and revenue growth. Become conversant in the Northern Community Radio Value Proposition and KAXE/KBXE programming, as well as the impact of our local initiatives provided to northern Minnesota arts and business communities. Plans and implements comprehensive campaigns in the context of Northern Community Radio and strategic and marketing plans approved by the General Manager, using available sales tools and market research. Creates and maintains strong, long-term working relationships with northern Minnesota arts and business communities’ clients based on professionalism, follow-through and service. Researches and understands the client’s needs and develops underwriting programs, events and sponsorship opportunities that offer solutions to help fuel the client’s success. EXPERIENCE AND ABILITIES NEEDED TO QUALIFY FOR THE POSITION The ideal candidate should: · Demonstrate a successful track record in media and/or event and underwriting revenue growth. · At least 3 years experience in media/advertising sales; High school diploma required, with college degree preferred. · Able to create thoughtful and persuasive written, oral and presentation communications, as well as the ability to explain the NCR value proposition to existing and prospective underwriters. · Able to work independently with minimal supervision. Must be a self-starter. Possess a thoughtful and positive demeanor and a professional appearance. · Understand the value of, and display a passion for the arts. · Possess a high level of integrity, problem-solving and analytical skills. · Develop and maintain communications in a cooperative and professional manner with all levels of the NCR organization and customers · Proficient in Microsoft Office Suite (Outlook, Word, Excel, PowerPoint) and underwriting database systems along with Marketron Traffic Software. Base duties would include quality control monitoring, airing, and recording of programs, working with broadcast logs and traffic related duties.
