Hubbard Radio stations in Brainerd (District 8) Stations organized a Stuff-the-Bus promotion in an effort to collect school supplies for the upcoming school year. In total, over three pallets of supplies were collected and donated to five area school districts through United Way.


Gray Television Duluth (District 8) KBJR-TV partnered with Memorial Blood Centers of Duluth on a Blood Drive Campaign. The campaign surpassed its goal by collecting blood from 183 people. According to Memorial Blood Centers, this equates to over 500 lives saved. KBJR-TV also helped to share the important message of the need for blood through live shots, social media, web spots, TV spots, and a recipient story.


R&J Broadcasting, Inc. and its stations KGHS-AM, KSDM-AM International Falls (District 8) R&J Broadcasting, Inc. stations in
International Falls hosted various fundraisers including a Stuff-the-Ambulance with toys collection, a Back-to-School Supply Drive and a Giving Tree Campaign. Toys, supplies and proceeds collected were distributed to Salvation Army, students in ISD 361 and the Borderland Humane Society.


Midwest Communications Duluth (District 8) KQDS-FM, KDAL-FM and KTCO-FM partnered with Northern Lakes Second Harvest Food Bank and Super One Foods for their Annual Day of Giving event. Over $975 was raised along with 700 pounds of food. In total, 3,485 meals were provided from donations to Northland neighbors in need.


WDIO-TV and WIRT-TV Duluth (District 8) The Trees of Hope Campaign raised awareness and $12,790 for Minnesota Ovarian Cancer Alliance, PAVSA, Minnesota Adult and Teen Challenge and Great Tails Animals Rescue. Their Have a Heart campaign also raised 90 pounds of food and $4,847 for Second Harvest Northern Lake Food Bank.


Midwest Communications Hibbing (District 8) Staff from WUSZ-FM, WTBX-FM, WMFG-FM, WDKE-FM, WEVE-FM, WMFG-AM and WNMT-AM volunteered to serve over 1,900 meals during National Night Out celebrations in their community.


RP Broadcasting and Paskvan Media Bemidji (District 8) The stations host the 218 Together campaign which promotes small businesses in the community and invites listeners to connect with small business owners. This is promoted on-air and online.


Townsquare Media Duluth and its stations WWPE-FM, KLDJ-FM, KBMX-FM, KKCB-FM and WWPE-FM (District 8) Townsquare Media Duluth stations are heavily involved in serving their community including events like the Bloody Bash on the Hill which raised $24,000 for ALS. This event also helps to promote small and local businesses.


Minnesota Broadcasters Association and its member stations created Broadcasters Week of Kindness during the week of August 6th. This campaign helped to raise over $332,000 for local organizations, serving, packing and collecting 204,200 meals for local food shelves and food banks, donating hundreds of volunteer hours to picking up trash in local parks, helping to organize community events and supporting animal shelters, stuffing buses with thousands of school supplies for students and teachers before they went back to school and bringing awareness to organizations that support veterans, cancer patients and underserved communities.
