Hubbard Radio stations in Brainerd (District 8) Stations organized a Stuff-the-Bus promotion in an effort to collect school supplies for the upcoming school year. In total, over three pallets of supplies were collected and donated to five area school districts through United Way.
Rapids Radio stations in Grand Rapids (District 8) Stations supported the local business community through their medallion hunt which drove extra people to Grand Rapids, Deer River and Bovey businesses to search for the medallion. The campaign will now be apart of the Deer River Wild Rice Festival, Grand Rapids Tall Timber Days and Bovey Farmers Day events.
Gray Television Duluth (District 8) KBJR-TV teamed up with their radio partner Midwest Communications in Duluth to support the Salvation Army Bell Ringing Campaign. Anchors and hosts participated in bell ringing raising $1,843. KBJR was also recognized as the top blood drive partner by Memorial Blood Centers for their region with more than 600 units of blood collected as a result. This was followed up by a 2-day blood drive whcih had a record-breaking turnout of 282 people donating blood.
R&J Broadcasting, Inc. and its stations KGHS-AM, KSDM-AM International Falls (District 8) R&J Broadcasting, Inc. stations in International Falls hosted various fundraisers including a Stuff-the-Ambulance with toys collection for Salvation Army, a Back-to-School Supply Drive for students in ISD 361 and a Giving Tree Campaign with Borderland Humane Society.
Midwest Communications Duluth (District 8) KQDS-FM, KDAL-FM and KTCO-FM partnered with Northern Lakes Second Harvest Food Bank and Super One Foods for their Annual Day of Giving event. Nearly $1,000 was raised. In total, 4,698 meals were provided from donations to Northland neighbors in need.
WDIO-TV Duluth (District 8) The Good Morning Northland Have-a-Heart campaign raised 159 pounds of food and $2,261 for Second Harvest Northland. This is 6,630 meals for those in need in the Northland. WDIO featured organizations that support Second Harvest Northland throughout the Have-A-Heart Campaign
Midwest Communications Hibbing (District 8) Staff from WUSZ-FM, WTBX-FM, WMFG-FM, WDKE-FM, WEVE-FM, WMFG-AM and WNMT-AM volunteered to serve over 1,900 meals during National Night Out celebrations in their community. Stations are also actively involved in raising awareness and funds for those with ALS with the Back Woods Blizzards Tour Snowmobile Ride that takes place in February. Members of their staff also do several book readings for kids and emcee many events for non-profit organizations in the community.
RP Broadcasting and Paskvan Media Bemidji (District 8) The stations host the 218 Together campaign which promotes small businesses in the community and invites listeners to connect with small business owners. This is promoted on-air and online.
Townsquare Media Duluth and its stations WWPE-FM, KLDJ-FM, KBMX-FM, KKCB-FM and WWPE-FM (District 8) Townsquare Media Duluth stations are heavily involved in serving their community including events like the Bloody Bash on the Hill which raised $24,000 for ALS Research. This event also helps to promote small and local businesses.
